Response to shootings in the neighbourhood

Since yesterday a series of shootings have taken place in our neighbourhood, with one occurring just shy of our doorstep. Thankfully, our staff and shelter residents are safe. Our hearts go out to those who have been injured and those who love them. We also extend our deep support and solidarity to the bystanders, residents, and workers in the neighbourhood who experienced these fearful tragedies or who are living with their after-effects. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to remain calm and vigilant and to reach out for support as you need it.

If you are a community member, you are welcome to take advantage of our regular community ministry programming. The programming is open to people of any or no faith and the offerings are summarized below. First United staff who need additional support are encouraged to reach out to First United Human Resources at any time.
