Even though our needs are great we simply cannot handle all of the wide variety of donations that come our way. We do have alternate suggestions if you would like to donate the following items but you need to know that the donations of these items to First United will require us to rehandle and ship and/or dispose of these items:
- Large appliances
- Men’s suits
- Men’s white shirts
- Men’s dress shoes
- Uniforms of all kinds
- Women’s dresses
- Broken appliances
- Prescription Drugs
- Ties
The Pantry is Bare!! Food stocks have become dangerously low in the Emergency Food Program., we could use help with:
- Canned fish and meat
- Kraft dinner
- Campbells soups
- Pork and beans
- Canned fruit
- Pasta Sauce
- Pasta ( 900 grms)
- Noodle soups
- Peanut butter/jam
- Noodles and sauce
- Rice a roni
- canned stew and chili
- Individual oatmeals
- Cereal
For some folks we create Street Bags. These food bags are for people who have no cooking facilities. Whether they live in an SRO or the corner. Not all people will use shelters and these folks also require support.
Any items with a flip top, ie. chili, canned ravioli, tuna, hearty soups etc, . these items can be eaten cold. We could also use items which require hot tap water i.e. cup of soup; instant noodle soups etc. Granola bars, fruit cups, instant Kraft dinner and the like.
Thank you for your continuing support for this program which is so important for many in the DTES.
