DONOR RELATIONS COORDINATOR
Reports to: Fund Development Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Work with the Fund Development Department by processing all donations and generating thank-you letters and receipts. Coordinate the data entry activities of a team of volunteers. Maintain the donor records and manage the donor appeal mailings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process all donor income including cash, credit cards, money orders, cheques, receiptable in-kind donations amongst others.
- Maintain functional recording and reporting methods and compliances with legislation.
- Coordinate a team of volunteers to enter all data related to donations and other income related to charitable events.
- Conduct regular audits of data to ensure integrity of databases and maintain project-specific databases as required.
- Generate special correspondence and standard and customised thank-you letters and receipts for donations.
- Manage donor appeal mailings and special donor acknowledgement projects.
- Generate reports such as month-end, filtered donor lists, various mailing and contact lists and income reports.
Assist with special events and other projects as required.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Attention to detail and accuracy with data recording and reporting methods.
- Strong computer skills with specific ability with spreadsheets and databases and programs such Raiser’s Edge.
- High level of literacy and numeracy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduation plus one (1) year computer training in database management, advanced MS Office and Raiser’s Edge.
- Two (2) years experience in an administrative position.

HOST SERVICES WORKER
First United is an inner-city ministry of the United Church of Canada that has been called to be a part of theVancouver’s Downtown Eastside. The Host Services role is critical to theFirstUnitedChurchmission. This role is the first representation of the church that a community person sees. It provides the initial community touch point. Host Service Workers must be warm, welcoming and respectful while at the same time maintaining a professional demeanour. They must actively greet and connect with individuals from the community and maintain a secure and safe environment at all times.
Duties include:
- Using organizational processes and procedures to maintain acceptable behaviours in areas used by the community including the procedure for calling and dealing with police.
- Being a warm and respectful primary greeter for all who come to theFirstUnitedChurchbuilding.
- Providing personalized care by bringing comfort and empathy for all within our building.
- Being familiar with the activities and groups run by the Church and how best to refer people for different situations.
- Maintaining a safe and hospitable atmosphere for the entire community. This includes looking out for the storage area, other staff and the thrift store.
- Being first responder to deal with high stress incidents and responding to potentially violent situations in non-confrontational ways with the goal of de-escalating the situation and/or, on occasion, escorting/removing problematic people from the building.
- Providing first aid when necessary or seeking medical help.
- Providing liaison for the community members with other community workers and external emergency services.
- Enforcing safe practices and health policies such as smoking restrictions and food and drink prohibitions in sleeping areas.
Requirements:
Criminal Record check for working with vulnerable adults.
Grade 12 and ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in a non-profit related environment is an asset.
