Shelter Manager:

Reporting to the Programs Director, the Shelter Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the multi-shift shelter services team, consisting of supervisors, shelter resource workers, and shelter case planners. Assists with management and support of community members and works closely with the management team to maintain operational efficiency, ensuring that the delivery of services are in line with our Mission and values.

Janitor (Casual):

This position’s objective is to keep the all church areas clean and tidy including the offices, washrooms of the Church, outside stairs, driveway and sidewalk. Approximately 8 hours a week. Applications close March 3.

Regular Overnight Shelter Resource Worker:

Help create a safe, welcoming and calming environment for the men and women staying with the First United emergency shelter and from the community using our services. You'll engage and develop relationships with each individual through active listening, program offerings, access to our services and be a steady presence throughout all areas of the First United Church. This position will work mainly with the shelter residents.

Various Shelter Resource Worker positions:

These positions are accountable to the Manager of Shelter Services in providing a welcoming, safe, and secure environment to the men and women living in the First United Church’s 24/7 emergency shelter. Under the immediate direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Shelter Resource Worker will be a daily presence at the First United Church to provide support to the men and women in the areas of relationship development and community engagement while performing a variety of duties to ensure the smooth operation of the emergency shelter.

Weekday Shelter Resource Worker (Women’s Area):

This position is accountable to the Manager of Shelter Services in providing a welcoming, safe, and secure environment to the women involved in the shelter program and weekday drop-in programs, activities and services in the women’s area, including all community members as well as shelter residents.
