National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Date 29 Sep, 2023

Tomorrow is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and we invite you to join us in both reflection and action for reconciliation. Three years on from the first marking of this day, unmarked graves continue to be discovered, and long-told stories and truths are validated. Validation though formal investigations should not be necessary. Survivors should be believed when they share their stories. Beyond reckoning with Canada’s legacy of residential schools, this day also serves as a day for settlers to take concrete steps to advance their own reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

As part of our journey, we’ve compiled a list of books to read, events to attend and organizations and businesses that you can support tomorrow and year-round.

Reading List

The following includes books for children, young adults, and adults.

  • Moonshot Vol. 2 by Tama Wise
  • Love beyond body, space & time by Hope Nicholson

  • Keetsahnak: our missing and murdered Indigenous sisters by Kim Anderson, Maria Campbell & Christi Belcour
