Community Giving Programs

Join First United’s new Community Giving Program and join hundreds of others who are helping provide sanctuary in the heart of our city. Whether you’re an individual, a business, funder, or community of faith, we have a giving program for you to join, that we are proud to recognize you as part of.

For individuals making a personal donation, join our Community Donors.

For congregations and churches wanting to support First United’s mission, join our Communities of Faith.

Be on the frontline of the fight against poverty. By becoming a Frontline Monthly Donor, you help us provide stable, long-term support to our community in need. Monthly giving ensures we can thoughtfully and respectfully plan for the future.

You can join the Frontline Monthly Giving program by donating via your credit card online, or through direct withdrawal from your bank account.

Donating directly from you bank account helps us save on credit card processing fees. To set up you monthly gift via EFT, mail in a void cheque and a note with the amount you would like to donate per month, your full name, and address.

Void cheques can be mailed to: First United Church Community Ministry Society, 320 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6A 1P4.

All monthly donations are processed on the 20^th of each month or the next business day after.

Friends of FIRST

By leaving a gift to First United in your will, you’ll become part of Friends of First. Create a legacy of compassion and justice with a gift in your will to First United. Together, we can ensure the most vulnerable people living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside will always have a place to belong and opportunities for hope and transformation.

FIRST UNITED gratefully accepts gifts in the form of publicly traded stock or securities. For more information about donating in this way, please visit our Giving Securities page.

Online

You can bring stability, possibility and joy to those struggling with homelessness and poverty. Your one-time online donation fuels the support and refuge First offers to people in need in the Downtown Eastside community. Donate via your credit card through our secure, online giving form today.

Phone

To donate over the phone please call 604-336-3047. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

e-transfer

New in 2021 is the ability to make a one-time donation by e-transfer through your online banking! You can make your donation directly from your chosen bank account and avoid using your credit card. To make your gift via e-transfer please follow these steps:

Add First United as a recipient and send your e-transfer to: [email protected]
In the “memo” field, please indicate that your e-transfer is a donation, and any other important details.
Use the following as your security question and answer:
- Question: What is the purpose of this transaction?
- Answer: Donation
You must email us at [email protected] letting us know that you’ve made a donation by e-transfer and include your full name and address. We cannot issue a charitable tax receipt without confirmation via email.

We can only receive and process donations received by e-transfer if they are sent to [email protected]. Please confirm you have correctly added us to your recipient list prior to sending your e-transfer.

CanadaHelps

Some donors prefer to donate through CanadaHelps which allows you to donate via Visa Debit card or PayPal, in addition to via credit card. If you don’t have a credit card but still want to support First United’s work, you can make your gift through CanadaHelps here.

Mail

Please make your cheque payable to First United Church Community Ministry Society and mail it to: First United Church Community Ministry Society, 320 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6A 1P4

Cash and cheque donations received by mail at the end of the year will have tax receipts issued for the year that is postmarked on the envelope.
